The "Weight of the City" is a canvas print by Indigenous Urban + Environmental Designer Sierra Tasi Baker (K̓esugwilakw) depicting a vision for a decolonial future. Sierra is from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxumixw (Squamish Nation) which has been dealing with an urban occupation since 1850 alongside its sister Host Nations, the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) in what is colonially known today as Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This piece is meant to reflect a right to return to Host Nations sovereignty and ways of being whilst doing what is inherently traditional: innovating. “I want to build cities of glittering fish scales, Thunderbird beaks and cedar forests. Filled with huckleberries, liquorice roots, Salish seasons and sunsets. Cities that burn, cities that sink, cities that grow and decay, just like the forests do” - K̓esugwilakw

This is a canvas print that will make a statement in an office, home or studio space.
